4-Year-Old Injured in April 24 Crash In New Port Richey Dies

A 4-year-old girl died Sunday from injuries she sustained in an April 24 crash in New Port Richey.

The crash occurred at 9:45 p.m. on U.S. 19 at the intersection with Marine Parkway.

According to the New Port Richey Police Department, a blue 2011 Hyundai Elantra was stopped at a red light at the intersection on the northbound lanes of U.S. 19.

Police believe that the light turned green, and a northbound 2004 Ford F-150 rear-ended the Elantra.

Two children, ages 4 and 10, were in the backseat of the Elantra. Both children were taken by air to St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

A third child, age 5, and an adult passenger in the Elantra were taken by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital, while the driver was taken to the hospital by a family member.

The 4-year-old died from her injuries on Sunday.

There are no updates at this time as to the condition of other people in the Elantra.

The driver of the Ford F-150 was not injured. He was cited at the scene for careless driving.

The investigation is ongoing.
