Drivers place everyone sharing the road with them at risk for serious injuries or death when they choose to run a stop sign. Distracted driving, drunk driving, road rage, brake failure or even hazardous road conditions can lead to drivers running stop signs. Due to the fact that stop signs are located at busy intersections, the potential for danger is great because traffic is moving in multiple directions. Intersection accidents usually result in serious head-on collisions, T-bone collisions and rear-end collisions.
According to the Federal Highway Association, nearly 2.3 million intersection crashes occur every year across the United States, resulting in more than 7,700 deaths. Running a stop sign is usually the result of driver negligence, and motorists, bikers and pedestrians that are injured as a result of an intersection collision may be entitled to receive compensation for damages. The Pasco County Injury Attorneys at Whittel & Melton protect the rights of injury victims in Zephyrhills, including those harmed as a result of a driver running a stop sign.
