Hudson Motorcycle Collision Attorney :: Motorcyclist Killed After Running Stop Sign

Hudson, FL – A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed last week when he crossed into the path of a pickup truck at an intersection.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the biker ran a stop sign on Tami Trail around 8:30 a.m., resulting in a collision with a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.

The pickup crashed into the motorcycle and ran over the driver. The motorcyclist was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Silverado, a 65-year-old Spring Hill man, was not harmed.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently further investigating the crash.

1403571_stop_sign.jpgAny motor vehicle accident carries the potential of being serious. Motorcycle accidents, however, are exceptionally dangerous. Without the protection of various safety features and the shell of a vehicle surrounding them, bikers tend to suffer far worse injuries and even death.

Many motorcycle accidents occur at intersections, and while these are supposed to manage the flow of traffic and prevent collisions between vehicles, this is certainly not always the case. Too often, drivers of cars and motorcycles fail to realize the other’s plans to yield, stop or continue through an intersection. When this happens, a collision is highly likely. Sadly, these accidents can be fatal for motorcyclists.
