New Port Richey Injury Lawyer :: Airbag Issues Prompt Honda to Issue Recall for Pilots and Odysseys

New Port Richey, FL – Honda recently announced a voluntary recall of 748,481 of its recent-model Pilot SUVs and Odyssey minivans for improperly assembled airbags that could increase the risk of an injury in the event of a collision.

According to the recall notice, one or more rivets that attach the airbag module to the airbag cover may be missing in these vehicles. The lack of these rivets could affect the function of the driver’s airbag during deployment. As of now, no crashes or injuries have been reported due to this defect.

The recall affects the following vehicles:

2011 – 2013 Honda Odysseys
2009 – 2013 Honda Pilots

Honda will be notifying owners and instructing them to take their vehicle to a Honda dealership to replace the airbags free of charge. For further information, owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

As a driver, you count on your vehicle’s airbags to work properly and provide you with added protection should you become involved in a crash. Sadly, there is a greater risk for sustaining serious injuries in a car accident when airbags do not deploy, including broken bones, fractures, head and neck injuries, brain and spinal cord injuries and disfigurement.

Automakers are responsible for equipping vehicles with properly working features. When a manufacturing defect does occur, automakers must issue a recall immediately so that the safety risk can be fixed. Anyone who owns one of the above Honda vehicles should contact their dealers as soon as possible to have their vehicle examined and repaired.
