San Antonio Man and Tampa Man Killed in Wrong Way Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol said two drivers were killed Friday morning in a double-fatal wrong-way crash in Tampa.

According to troopers, a 47-year-old Tampa man and a 65-year-old San Antonio man both died when the Tampa man’s Acura TL collided with the San Antonio man’s GMC Envoy SUV on the I-275 Ashley Drive ramp just after 5:30 a.m.

Troopers believe the Tampa man drove northbound in the southbound lanes of the I-275 Ashley Drive ramp and collided head on with the GMC.

Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt, according to authorities.

It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
